California Academy for Liberal Studies

The CALS Charter School project involved the renovation and development of abandoned warehouse building in Northeast Los Angeles. Our goal was to create an environmentally sustainable, technically innovative, community based and programmatically effective campus. CALS is the first LEED-certified charter school in Northeast LA. The campus serves 300 students in grades 6-8, as well as 150 students in grades 9-12. Special emphasis was placed on creating a high-performing school with a healthy, comfortable indoor learning environment which also serves as a platform for creative curriculum and pedagogy.
