Rocketship Delta Prep School Reception Desk at AMOCA
As part of our art-on-every school campus initiative, we designed and installed a sculptural reception piece as a gift to the school and the greater community. Our team designed and installed the ceramic tile reception desk from the design and fabrication of the plaster molds to casting, firing and glazing over 150+ pieces of the triangular shaped tiles. We chose clay not only because it is a sustainable material, but also because of its inherent connection to the land and traditional use in local and indigenous art. Sculptural forms of the molds were inspired by folklórico dance, particularly by the flowing movement of the skirts. The integrated art piece provides a playful sense of ebb and flow.
