WCL Community Workshops

Woodcrest Library Community Workshops

The public art process began with a Trash 4 Teaching workshop which invited neighbors and community stakeholders to design canopies using recycled materials. There was a common theme among the neighbors’ designs: a desire for nature, in a community where parks and access to green spaces are scarce. Inspired by community connections to the natural environment, the concept for the artwork drew inspiration from microscopic images of butterfly wings and sculptural shade elements.
