Henry J. Mills Chlorine Containment & Handling Facility
Henry J. Mills Chlorine Containment & Handling Facility
Riverside, California
The design for the expansion of an existing chlorine containment and handling facility sought to integrate functional considerations with their corresponding visual impacts to create a cohesive architecture. A centralized mezzanine-level platform provides quick and continuous circulation between the large spaces. Use of concrete masonry and perforated, corrugated metal siding and trans-lucent panels is consistent with the industrial nature of the facilities (where solidity and durability are desirable). The materials have been treated with an eye towards human scale and visual interest by breaking down larger masses into recognizeable parts.
